Angular momentum (given position vector, mass and velocity)
Formula
L
angular momentum
m
mass
v
velocity
r
distance of the particle relative to the origin
theta
angle between r and p measured from r to v
Formula description
In physics, angular momentum, moment of momentum, or rotational momentum is a conserved vector quantity that can be used to describe the overall state of a physical system. The angular momentum L of a particle with respect to some point of origin is L=r×p, where r is the particle's position from the origin, p = mv is its linear momentum, and × denotes the cross product.
