Cumulative volume of absorbed liquid (Liquid transport in porous media)
Formula
V
the cumulative volume of absorbed liquid
S
the sorptivity of the medium, with dimensions m*s-1/2
A
the cross-sectional area that is wetted on one end
Formula description
When a dry porous medium, such as a brick or a wick, is brought into contact with a liquid, it will start absorbing the liquid at a rate which decreases over time. This is a kind of cappillary action.
