Exterior common tangent of two circles (given distance between centers and radius)
Formula
L
exterior common tangent
d
distance between two circle centers
R
radius of big circle
r
radius of small circle
Formula description
A line that is tangent to two circles in the same plane is a common tangent. A common tangent that does not intersect the segment joining the centers of two circles is an external common tangent.
